An exciting opportunity for an aspiring Service Manager
This is based at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, with potential cross site working to Bedford Hospital.
The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties to support the clinical and management team on a strategic and operational basis. They will be instrumental in the smooth running of the service/group, working autonomously and leading the department in its operational demands.
This role will be in direct support of the General Manager, Service Manager, Clinical Directors & Senior Nursing team within group 3.
To support with inpatient operational pressures such as providing direct operational support to wards including escalation of diagnostic delays to patient care and discharge, attending bed meetings and relaying information and acting appropriately.
The post-holder will act as an integrated member of the T&O/Group 3 team to help provide an effective and efficient service to patients, their families and carers and health care professionals involved in their care.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside the Service Manager to ensure that T&O/Group 3 services are running efficiently and effectively on a day to day basis. To problem-solve all day-to-day management issues organising and ensuring appropriate cover within the service.
Exercise delegated authority on behalf of the Service Manager to resolve day-to-day management issues within the service.
To support the medical and senior nursing team in ensuring the wards/services run effectively.
To support the service manager in the identification, development, implementation and maintenance of service improvements.
To be able to problem solve independently seeking advice where necessary.
To be visible on the ward/service areas acting as a first point of contact for any service management queries.
To communicate with multiple MDT staff members, patients, relatives using expert levels of communication.
To maintain robust systems and processes for managing the medical workforce & rotas within the T&O/Group 3 directorate.
To attend relevant departmental meetings and provide administrative support where required.
To support with operational pressures through methods such as ward buddying, outlier staffing allocations and the escalation of delays to patient care and discharge.
