Job summary
We're looking for a motivated individual to join our Paediatric Diabetes Team, supporting children and young people across hospital and community settings. You'll play a key role in delivering specialist care, helping families implement and manage diabetes technology, and providing hands-on support in clinics, schools, and homes.
Strong IT skills and experience in paediatric care are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively--especially in languages spoken within the local community. You'll assist with device downloads, troubleshoot tech issues, and help set up drop-in clinics. Your work will also involve supporting emotional and social development through therapeutic activities.
This role requires excellent communication, sound judgement, and the ability to work across professional boundaries to educate and empower families throughout their diabetes journey.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with children and young people, helping them actively engage with their diabetes care. This role involves working across both hospital and community settings, offering personalised support to patients and their families.
A key part of the role is to motivate and empower children, parents, and carers to improve their health and wellbeing. The ability to speak languages commonly used in the local community is essential to ensure clear and inclusive communication.
In clinic, the post holder will assist with downloading insulin pumps and other diabetes technology, providing timely feedback on any issues or concerns to support effective care and decision-making.
