Job summary
A full time (10 PA) Consultant ENT Surgeon is required at Bedfordshire Hospitals to work with a supportive, dynamic & enthusiastic ENT team to help further develop services between Luton & Dunstable Hospital and Bedford Hospital. They should be able to manage all aspects of General Adult and Paediatric ENT but also have an appropriate sub-specialist interest to complement the activity of the department.
The successful candidate will be an additional Consultant to the existing team of 10 Consultant ENT Surgeons (4 Based at Luton, 2 Based at Bedford and 4 working across both sites) who serve the population of Bedfordshire and surrounding areas.
The on-call commitment is 1:6 week days covering Luton and Dunstable Hospital with prospective cover for annual and study leave. Weekend on-call is 1:10 covering both Luton and Dunstable Hospital and Bedford Hospital
Main duties of the job
Key tasks:
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients
presenting to the Hospital.
To provide and support colleagues with the management of all adult and paediatric
patients presenting with ENT conditions.
In addition, the post-holder will have the following responsibilities
To develop close links with the ENT Team and undertake the responsibilities of outpatient ENT Clinics.
Teaching and training of intermediate grade and, junior medical staff, medical
students and ENT Nursing Staff.
To develop and lead Clinical Research in ENT with the support of Research & Ethic
Committee in the Trust.
To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical
Governance and audit.
To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional
