Job summary
We are a 12 bedded inpatient Haematology ward. We work towards transforming the way in which we deliver treatments to our patients. We are delivering more complex treatments through developing our inpatient service for patients with malignant and non malignant haematology disorders.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with knowledge and experience of treating patients with a range of haematological conditions to join our team.
You will be required to support and work alongside the Ward Manager and Matron to provide effective unit management. You will be expected to take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the ward manager.
Take responsibility for assessments of patients care needs; the development, implementation and evaluation of care to ensure the highest possible standards of care are received by patients. Supervision and teaching other nursing and non nursing staff, acting as an excellent clinical role model and team leader.

Main duties of the job
To support the manager with clinical ward audits.
To support the team with personal development.
To support and orientate new and bank/agency staff to the ward.
To Lead and support the team deliver a high standard of care that is in line with the trusts and wards policies, protocols and values.
Ensure a high standard of nursing care is performed at all times
To lead and co-ordinate the ward in the absence of the ward manager
To assist with the management of the nursing team, under the direction of the ward manager
To ensure all Medical equipment is kept in a safe condition and is ready for use when required, and any faulty equipment is reported
Ensure all staff have the necessary mandatory training and up to date appraisal
Represent the team and organisation at professional meetings as requested and provide feedback
Under direction of the ward manager undertake performance reviews and return to work interviews
Ensure communication is used effectively, both written and verbal, in the best interests of the patient
To be actively involved in the interview and recruitment process
To work with the ward manager to ensure the most effective use of resources with in a defined budget
