Maternity Reception Clerical Officer

Job summary

The Clerical Officer will provide an essential support service to the efficient running of the Maternity Unit. They must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as being able to work on their own initiative. The post holder must have computer skills, be able to communicate effectively and work well under pressure . The highest standard of data quality input is required at all times.

Main duties of the job

Working in a team with little or no supervision at times.

To operate 4 computer systems, CMIS, ICE, iPM and Evolve.

Inputting patient details and accurate medical information onto the systems.

Updating patient details on all systems as and when required.

To ensure documentation is available in advance for antenatal clinic appointments.

Make new booking appointments in the New-Booking diary from Midwives as and when required and create appointment / letters, send out to patients.

Taking calls from women who want to 'self-refer' for maternity services if unable to access the L&D Portal for self-referrals.

Make appointments on iPM for clinic for follow-up appointments and patients and GP's as and when required.

To ensure and maintain effective communication pathways both face to face, over the phone and by e-mail, within all levels of the multi-disciplinary team, and any external agencies when required.

The Maternity Clerk will assist in the creation of a non-judgemental and supportive environment for colleagues. They will be able to work as a team player providing a flexible approach to both patients and colleagues.

They will display a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
