An exciting opportunity has come up to join the haematology team at Bedford Hospital as a Lymphoma Clinical nurse specialist.
The role is to provide a holistic, patient-focused service delivering evidence based information and advice to patients with lymphoma, supporting them and their families throughout diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care. By providing specialist, expert clinical knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients, carers and relatives. As an expert practitioner, liaise, guide and advise the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies in the provision of optimum patient care and lead the development of clinical services within the specialist field.
Main duties of the job
- To perform an effective key role within the MDT to deliver cancer waiting times targets and pathways communication.
- To attend and co-ordinate MDT meetings if appropriate to the role ensuring all patients are represented
- To deliver a seamless service through the development of enhanced Multidisciplinary team (MDT) processes and communication
- To act as a specialist resource for patients and the clinical team by providing comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training both within the Trust and externally.
- Update own clinical and specialist knowledge. Contribute in audit processes. Undertake, where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes.
- Promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within specialty.
- Active involvement in the development of the service locally and nationally.
