Job summary

The ward consists of 33 beds and is led by approachable Ward Manager supported by four Ward Sisters. The ward is mixed speciality ward with two Consultants specialising in Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation (20 beds) and Acute Medicine (12 Beds).

The care delivered is of a very high standard and the whole team work closely to ensure all patient experience is positive.

Although we have a very strong learning and development function, we appreciate that you will need to have acquired some skills and experience from your career you will require in order for your time with us to be a real success.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. This includes the assessment of care needs and the development, implementationand evaluation of programmes of care from admission to discharge. The post holder is expected to take charge of a ward, following an agreed development period and also be responsible for staff andresources in the absence of the ward manager or deputy. The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registrationstudents.

The post holder will be required to work shifts throughout the 24hour period.
