Job summary
An opportunity is available for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to cover a Senior BMS post in Haematology . The post will be based at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital site but there will be a requirement to rotate to the Bedford Hospital site also.
Hours of work are 9am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday, although you may be expected to work outside these hours on occasion to cover unexpected staff absences.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage the day-to-day operations and technical aspects of the service. The post holder will assist the laboratory manager in the operational aspects of the Laboratory Information Management System [LIMS] for the department, the relocation of services in line with service development and the implementation, monitoring and review of any contract, whilst maintaining service continuity and mitigating risk.
The post holder will assist the laboratory manager in the delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective service, through the Quality Management System [QMS] and quality monitoring process using key performance indicators. They will be responsible for implementing change as directed by the laboratory manager, when delegated or appropriate to service needs.
The post holder is expected to implement policies and procedures ensuring that the service complies with current UKAS standards, national and European legislation and discipline specific regulatory bodies.
The post holder will have line management responsibilities for scientific and support staff, including recruitment, training, development, appraisal and performance.
