Job summary
Applications are invited for a substantive Consultant with interest in microsurgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and hand surgery at Bedford Hospital, which is part of the merged Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a full time (10 PA) post and provides an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated clinician to join a forward thinking department within a developing plastics service.
Main duties of the job
To provide general Plastic, microsurgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and hand surgery to Bedford Hospital patients. The post covers all fundamentals of Plastic Surgery. The post holder will be expected to show leadership in his/her specialty and to offer support to clinical colleagues in other specialities across a full range of plastic surgical cases. They will be expected to work within an MDT setting.
The post holder will work with colleagues to keep up to date with the latest guidance and advancements in the provision of skin cancer services.
They will work closely with the current Plastic Consultants and have responsibility with them for the work and development of the Trusts widely recognised tertiary Laser Treatment Centre. They will be expected to be part of the team to develop the microsurgery and abdominal wall reconstruction aspects of the unit. The department works in line with Trust values to ensure fairness and equitable working conditions for all colleagues.
They will participate in clinical and other service activities with the objective of ensuring a high standard of patient care achieving key standards for cancer and 18 weeks targets.
