Job summary
Working in the Primrose Unit, Bedford hospital to perform the taking of blood samples by venepuncture and/or capillary technique Interpretation of test request data in order to correctly select sample tube and degree of prioritisation.
Main duties of the job
1 To work as a member of the Primrose Unit which will entail working in a flexible, supportive manner.
2 To undertake collection of blood samples for oncology patients under the care of the Primrose Unit.
4 To be able to request blood tests on Trust Pathology System- ICE
5 Use of personal judgement when selecting a suitable vein for the venepuncture whilst acting within the Trust Phlebotomy policy
6 Take the consent of patients having to have a blood test and act in accordance with their wishes wherever possible.
