Job summary
To undertake a multi-faceted role within the Imaging Assistant team, in support of all
Imaging services relating to patient care, administration and the day-
to-day maintenance of some imaging equipment. As the Trust moves towards 7 day
Working, flexibility of sessions will be required to facilitate all scanning sessions
1 x 37.5 hours

Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the inter-disciplinary radiology team, inter-acting and liaising with colleagues, patients and public. Verbally support them in potentially embarrassing and distressing situations. Ensure the continuation of the highest standards of patient care.
To liaise with the wider hospital multi-disciplinary team to maintain the continuation of in-patients at appropriate and appointed times, for imaging investigations.
To be responsible for the correct identification of patients, using the departmental policy. Assist patients to change and escort them to the appropriate area of the department as required.
Ensure tact, diplomacy and professionalism at all times, overcoming barriers to communication where necessary. Show complete consideration for the privacy and dignity of the patient, especially when acting as a chaperone.
To be able to assess patient condition on arrival and adapt care accordingly dependent upon age, well-being and clinical need. Demonstrate empathy and reassurance. To be aware of the limitations of their role and seek specialist assistance as necessary.
To assist patients to maintain their personal hygiene, to include toileting and the safe handling and disposal of body fluids.
To correctly transfer patients onto the imaging bed according to Trust policy and to ensure their continued safety during the procedure. Frequently required to push beds, trolleys and wheelchairs throughout the working day.
