Job summary
The Waiting list Assistant for the Cardiac Catheter Suite has responsibility for the reception area to the Unit. The department includes a Day Ward, and Cardiac Catheterisation laboratory.You will be responsible for managing the waiting list, unsupervised, for all patients coming through the department. This will include patients from Cardiology out patients, in-patients from different wards and occasionally Luton & Dunstable Hospital patients.
Manage waiting list for different procedures. Liaise with all the Consultants, radiographers, cardiac technicians and nurses. Also liaise with secretaries and other departments within the hospital. Allocate procedure date and Pre-admission clinic date. Sending admission letters and information to patients.
Organising Pre-operative Assessment clinics. Booking elective and inpatient procedures. You will also be answering the telephone to internal and external callers, you will have regular communication with the multidisciplinary team, and also GP practices. You will be continually monitoring the waiting list unsupervised and making appropriate adjustments as required.
General computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft packages are essential.
Main duties of the job
- Manage waiting list for Angiograms, Angio? Proceeds, PCIs, Pacemaker procedures, Cardioversions and Trans-oesophageal Echocardiogram procedures.
- Organising Pre-operative Assessment clinics. You will be dealing with patients face to face and booking patients in and out using the hospital PiMS system.
- Collating patient packs ready for Pre-operative Assessment clinics and elective admissions
- Booking elective and inpatient procedures on TOMCAT (CVIS) and using ICE to check for referrals, order blood tests and check blood test results
