Job summary
A six month fixed term or secondment opportunity has arisen in the Facilities Helpdesk to Support Patient Transport .
To support the Switchboard, Transport & Helpdesk Manager in the efficient operation of the transport network for Luton & Dunstable and Bedford Hospital and the Archer Unit.
Supporting both Inpatients and outpatients with transport requirements.
Main duties of the job
- Competent in the use of IT such as windows based systems and also ICT such as telephony, email,
- Awareness of quality issues
- Knowledge of Bedfordshire Hospitals policies & procedures
- Ability to use complex systems such as Cleric, Apex etc
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Excellent listening skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Work in an environment where decisions are based upon an ever changing set of disparate circumstances
- Work on own initiative
- Prioritise and undertake numerous tasks simultaneously
- Remain calm under pressure
- Ability to effectively delegate
- To check and record all patient transport patients on log sheets to ensure correct records are maintained.
- Use Trusts systems (Nervecentre) to locate patients, confirm information is correct
- To check systems (IPM) to confirm patient's appointments are still relevant.
- Monitor abortive journeys and implement systems to reduce overall numbers in liaison with Line Manager
- In the absence of Contracted Transport Supplier, print out daily log's sheets for discharges.
- Booking Taxis as necessary following Trust transport policy.
- To book couriers for both on site at Luton and Dunstable Hospital and for community sites maintained by the trust
- Logistics knowledge of Bedfordshire and surrounding areas
- To be responsible for reporting faults, and maintenance problems within area.
