Job summary
Applications are invited for two full time Consultants to work in our established Diabetes and Endocrine Department at Bedford Hospital which is part of the merged Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
These are substantive posts and the appointments will be made in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service for Consultants (2003).
The roles will provide general endocrine and diabetes outpatient services, as well as providing speciality outpatient clinics and general inpatient care to the firm's general medical patients on a rotational basis currently with 2 other consultants on the firm.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include Diabetes and Endocrine outpatient clinics, general medical inpatient ward rounds and supporting the Diabetes and Endocrine multidisciplinary team. Subspecialty interests can be developed or accommodated after discussion with the Clinical Lead and depending upon the needs of the department.
The appointees may participate in an integrated on call rota with colleagues in Acute and General Medicine to provide cover for acute medicine; this is currently on a 1 in 16 basis.
