Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital to manage our Trauma and Orthopaedic Out Patient Centre.

We are looking for an aspiring, highly motivatedand experienced Sister or Charge Nurse who is ready to move on to their next challenge; to join and lead our dedicated Trauma and Orthopaedic Team.

Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential and the ambition to provide high standards and improve our clinic patient experience.

The successfulapplicant will be responsible for leading, managing teams and maintaining good coordination and communication with the multidisciplinary team.

They will be required to ensure effective and timely flow in the runningof all clinics, the preassessment of trauma patients for surgery, wound assessment and management, and general problem solving.

Main duties of the job

To lead our dedicated Trauma and Orthopaedic Out Patient Department coordinating with the Specialist Surgery Matron to provide strong leadership, effective unit management and staff development.

To provide kind, skilled, and expert leadership in supporting the unit, whilst possessing the ability to have innovative ideas, empower others and deliver continuous sustained unit improvements

  • Professionally accountable and responsible for regularly assessing skill mix, team structures and implementing changes in working practices ensuring that care process are well implemented in support and delivery of high quality patient care
  • Actively demonstrates and performs in undertaking performance reviews and return to work interviews.
  • With due regard to Risk Management policies and procedures, is actively involved in maintaining a safe environment for patients, relatives, carers' and staff.
  • To work and ensure the most effective use of resources within a defined budget.
  • Actively leads in the investigation of complaints and draft responses as required and in implementing change as a result of investigations.
  • Working in collaboration with PALS to investigate and resolve patient concerns and complaints
  • Maintain clinical study to fulfil professional registration and show evidence of continuing professional development.
