As a member of the Support Services Directorate, to play an active role in the provision of high quality catering service, ensuring that high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained throughout the kitchens and being responsive to the needs of the patients, visitors and staff through the delivery of excellent customer service at all times.
Main duties of the job
- To clean departmental equipment and areas, including storage spaces and temperature controlled areas in accordance with the HACCP system and guidance.
- To assist with basic food preparation; including baguettes, sandwiches, salads, beverages, vegetables and other comparable tasks as directed by the Catering Manager and Head Chef
- To monitor all kitchen areas for signs of pest infestation and to report any such infestations to the Catering Manager to ensure that appropriate measures can be taken to remove the reported pests.
- To ensure that all food waste is disposed of in the food waste machine and that all other waste material is compacted as far as possible and disposed of in the appropriate location.
- To correctly store and use all cleaning materials within the catering department, to ensure that the work is carried out in a safe manner and to the required standards and in accordance with COSHH regulations.
- To assist with the service of patient meals; loading the food trolleys and ensure that these are delivered at the specified time and plugged into the relevant point on each ward.
