Job description

Job responsibilities

PLEASE SEE FULL JD & PS ATTACHED

The Luton & Dunstable University Hospital is a highly rated, diverse and forward thinking place to work. We are a Foundation Trust serving a multi-cultural population of over 350,000 across Bedfordshire, Luton and North Hertfordshire.

Through tremendous commitment and hard work, our Paediatrics, Emergency Care Services and Outpatient Services achieved Outstanding in our 2016 Care Quality Commission inspection. Similarly we had an overall rating of Good across the rest of the hospital. We were praised as compassionate, empathetic and exhibiting patient outcomes above the average when compared with other acute Trusts.

We are a regional centre of excellence for several key specialties including, Neurophysiology, Obesity Research, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services. We are a tertiary level NICU provider and one of the largest centres for breast screening in the country.

The hospital continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.

The Paediatric Department sees in excess of 26,000 children per year. In line with national initiatives such as Care Closer to Home, we believe in empowering families. This supports families, reducing lengthy journeys and time away from school. With the right support and education parents and young people can feel more confident to manage their conditions giving them skills to minimise the impact on daily life.

In order to complement our current endocrine services within paediatrics this role of Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will act as a confident lead and coordinate a full MDT. This post would enable the family centred care model and approach with regular meetings, outpatient clinics, education for staff and families and networking between the family, local and tertiary services.

To arrange an informal visit or for further information, please contact Marva Desir, Deputy Head of Nursing for Children on
