Job summary

This post is for a one year fixed term contract to cover secondment. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic nurse to come and join our friendly and supportive Private General Surgical ward. Experience in general surgery more specifically Bariatric, Colorectal or Orthopaedic patient care would be advantageous, however we are able to offer teaching and support to nurses without this experience.

Cobham Clinic is a private surgical ward within a NHS hospital, and we deliver high quality care to a wide variety of specialities, including colorectal, bariatric, urology, orthopaedic and general surgeries. Alongside caring for surgical patients we run an outpatient service, where nursing staff are involved in pre-assessing private patients.

Here you can develop your practical skills in caring for surgical patients and you will enhance your knowledge within the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) programme for colorectal, bariatric, urology and orthopaedic procedures.

We require nurses who are compassionate, patient focused and strive to deliver the best possible patient care and who enjoy working as part of a busy, happy and friendly team.

Main duties of the job

Carries out a full range of registered nurse duties, including assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation of the patient's condition and care with support from thenurse in charge. Maintain the privacy and dignity of all patients.Works without direct supervision once key learning outcomes of the induction/ foundation or preceptorship programme have been completed.Documents incidents on Datix in real time and escalated these to nurse in charge and is area of trust risk management and how to raise concerns policiesIs able to prioritise nursing care, recognize deterioration in a patient's condition and alert senior staff immediately.Maintains accurate, contemporaneous and legible written records of care.Uses effective communication, written and verbal with all levels of staff including themultidisciplinary team, patients and relatives.Helps to achieve and maintain morale for both staff and patients.Adheres to the Trust's Uniform and dress code policy.Contribute to the learning environment conducive for nursing students and other staff intraining.Attend all Mandatory training and ensure that updates are booked in a timely fashion.Act as assessor/supervisor for trained and untrained staff once appropriate training has been given.
