Be responsible for, and participate in, all clinical activity within the unit, including working in theatre, dressings, laser, hand trauma and general plastics clinics and pre and post-operative care of patients.
Taking a lead in delivering the trauma and complex dressing service, this includes developing and teaching the application of VAC therapy to junior staff
Participate in the nurse lead laser service and photodynamic therapy clinics
Take responsibility for the smooth operational running of the department in the absence of the manager, supervising nursing and clerical staff. Ensure correct staffing levels and skill mix.
Set standards, objectives and priorities within each span of duty.
Be conversant with the Hospital and Departments clinical guidelines, policies and SOPs, and act accordingly.
Give utmost regard to psychological care of patients, their dignity, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Act as patient advocate, intervening on the patients behalf as necessary
Be accountable for personal practice, critically evaluating own performance ensuring the use of reflective practice to promote a high standard of care.
Provide feedback to all staff from any study sessions attended.
Demonstrate a good working relationship with the Multi-Disciplinary team, maintaining effective lines of communication
Participate in the appraisal process and take every opportunity to develop knowledge and skills.
Support with quality improvement, innovation and service development
