CSL Quality Governance Manager and Clinical Audit Lead

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the CSL (Clinical Service Line) Quality Governance and Effectiveness support team which will be provide support, facilitation and expert advice on a broad range of quality governance, clinical effectiveness and clinical audit activities across Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role encompasses all aspects of clinical risk and patient safety, clinical audit and clinical effectiveness programmes (including NICE guidance).

Provide expert support and advice to the organisation in relation to clinical audit and effectiveness and any associated clinical quality improvement activities.

To direct the development of work plans for the team which support the optimal use of Trust incident reporting system within each CSL, recognising training needs and support in the investigation of incidents where appropriate.

Work with the Patient Safety Investigations and Clinical Risk Manager to ensure the Quality Governance and Effectiveness support team support the implementation of PSIRF (Patient Safety Incident Review Framework), particularly implementation of associated improvement plans within service lines. Ensuring close collaboration with clinical teams and identification of areas for learning across specialities and organisational wide learning related to themes and trends.

To act as the Trust managerial lead for clinical audit and effectiveness, ensuring the on-going development and implementation of a strategy for clinical quality and effectiveness which ensures clinical audit and the adoption of evidence based practice meets the needs of the overall organisational performance framework.

Working in collaboration with the Quality and Safety Governance leadership team in the preparation and delivery of activities associated with coordinating the Trust's response and participation in CQC inspections

Essential

  • Master's degree level in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Relevant Level 7 qualification relevant to this role

Desirable

  • First level Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional or equivalent
  • Qualification in patient safety incident investigations

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing and leading a team including performance management, appraisals, sickness management
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical risk management and statutory requirements
  • Good understanding of operational issues in a large NHS environment
  • Extensive experience of investigating patient safety incidents with knowledge of a range of investigation tools

Skills & Abilities

  • Confidence in making presentations and training individuals or groups of staff.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and oral, with people at all levels, both within and external to the organisation. Able to present complex, sensitive and contentious information to groups of staff, public and stakeholders.
