Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our team on ward 19 B. Our ward is a 28-beded ward that caters to elderly patients with dementia and general medical patients .You will be working as part of a team with experienced nurses to provide a high standard of specialised care to patients including assessments, planning, implementing and evaluating all care needs.

The care delivered is of a very high standard and the whole team work closely to ensure all patients experience is positive

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individuals who are committed to delivering a high standard of patient care on our busy but friendly Ward . As a Healthcare Assistant you will be a valued member of the team and support our Nurses to look after our patients. You will be involved in a variety of duties such as bathing, toileting and the monitoring of patient observations.

As a vital member of our team, we know that you are often the first person our patients talk with and trust. We want to be able to support you in this role and help you develop. As such, we are offering you development and support through your care certificate. You will be expected to complete the National Care Certificate within 12 weeks of commencement (if full time). There are also opportunities for further development.

When you come for assessment you will be required to undertake a literacy and numeracy test. This test is necessary in order to ensure you meet the requirements of apprenticeship study at a later date. The test can be challenging and we recommend that you review your English and Maths knowledge prior to completing this.

This post is subject to the successful completion of a probationary period of 6 months within which the notice period for both you and Bedford Hospital is four weeks.
