Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Exercise Physiologist to join the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation multiple disciplinary service. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to enhance your skills in caring for cardiac patients. We provide Phases I, II and III for patients with a variety of backgrounds and those that have a wide range of cardiac disease. As a band 5 Exercise Physiologist you will play a key role in providing exercise prescription for cardiovascular exercise and other conditions. You will also be involved with the delivery and evaluation of the exercise programme and education components. This will include delivery of face to face and/or a Hybrid approach.
Main duties of the job
- In conjunction with Physiotherapist, deliver, develop and maintain safe effective group exercise sessions for patients with cardiovascular conditions and work within the standards set by the BACPR and ACPICR.
- As an autonomous practitioner, hold responsibility for a given caseload of patients. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their own work.
- Demonstrate the ability to co-ordinate the cardiac rehabilitation service in absence of the Physiotherapist and Team Leads.
- Ensure timely communication of assessment findings, treatment and outcomes to other disciplines. Refer appropriately to MDT.
- Encourage patient with goal orientated exercise prescription, adjusting communication style appropriately. Liaise with team to ensure continuity of advice and information.
- Responsibility for assessing health needs of patients, carers and families. Be able to offer advice on CHD lifestyle modification.
- Maintain accurate comprehensive records in line with current policies and provide written reports.
- Undertake local and national audit and research to evaluate service.
- To be involved with the induction, teaching, assessment and supervision of junior staff, students and members of the MDT.
- Be flexible within the designated role and undertake other duties that may be required from time to time in the absence of a fellow team member.
- To be responsible for personal continuous professional development.
