Are you an experienced Clinical Pharmacist with a keen interest in antimicrobials, who can confidently take on a specialist role in service delivery, and who can be innovative in the development of a forward-thinking service?
If so we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join a "Good"-rated, high-performing acute healthcare provider as a Specialist/Support Pharmacist (Antimicrobials).
As part of this role you will be actively involved in the delivery of various work-streams of the Antimicrobial Resistance CQUIN, previous experience of managing projects will be beneficial. You must possess the vision, energy and influencing skills to take forward the Antibiotic Stewardship agenda and ensure delivery of the outcomes patients and clinicians expect. Ideally you will have previous experience in the antimicrobial field and be a non-medical prescriber but this is not essential for an otherwise suitable candidate. The ability to work in close collaboration with senior medical, nursing and pharmacy colleagues will be essential.
Main duties of the job
- Supporting the development and provision of safe, high quality Antimicrobial Stewardship delivering key pharmacy services and national benchmark performance standards Trust wide.
- Work with the lead pharmacists as part of the multidisciplinary Antimicrobial Stewardship Team to deliver the Antimicrobial Stewardship strategy trust-wide. To support the implementation of the Trusts stewardship strategy with the aim of reducing inappropriate consumption of antimicrobials and thereby slowing the rate at which resistance is developing
- To support the Consultant Microbiologist and IPC team in driving behaviour change enabling Trust wide change in prescribing culture contributing to reduce hospital acquired infections and enabling prudent use of antimicrobials.
- Supporting the Principal and Lead Pharmacists to plan and deliver national CQUIN projects aimed at quality improvement. To be involved in audit planning and development when required and to support/undertake antimicrobial related audits Trust-wide.
- Required to work with the Pharmacy Antimicrobial team, Consultant Microbiologist and IPC team to ensure the governance, risk management, financial, safety and operational aspects of Antimicrobial Stewardship at BHFT is delivered. This will be achieved by providing advice on antimicrobial issues to the Pharmacy Senior Team and Antimicrobial Stewardship Group (ASG).
