Job summary

The Post holder will be working alongside qualified plaster technicians to gain experience in all casting skills, and also learn to run the various clinics held with in the department. This will be a dual role working between clinics and plaster room.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a professional role model to junior staff and demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills within the departments
  • Work with the department manager and nursing team to develop and promote best nursing practice

Job responsibilities

We are a busy forward thinking outpatients department caring for patients aged from 0-100+ with a wide range of orthopaedic conditions and fractures, specialist bracing and casting.

The post-holder/s are responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. After an agreed period of time, the post holder will be designated to co-ordinate the department in the absence of the department Sister, The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registration students.

The post holder will be required to work in all areas as required to meet the needs of the service. The post holder is required to hold an up to date BOA casting certificate or be willing to undertake the required training to qualify as an Orthopaedic practitioner.

Flexible working will be required to meet the needs of the service
