If you are keen to make a difference within a hospital environment by supporting your colleagues complete and update their training and appraisal requirements then the Training and Learning Team could be for you.
The Training and Learning Team provide a service for all staff within the organisation to ensure that their statutory and mandatory training needs are met and support colleagues to attend and complete CPD to enhance their knowledge and expertise in their field.
The team are looking for a Mandatory Training Officer to help contribute to the compliance efforts and support the team to achieve excellence. As a team we pride ourselves on being friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and professional to support all hospital staff across both Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable Hospital. You will be working with all staff including, domestic staff, medical professional, nursing colleagues and staff working within the corporate function including the executive team.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic, friendly and have an excellent work ethic to support the busy day to day work of the Training and Learning Team.
Main duties of the job
- Work collaboratively with the Training and Learning Manager and the Training and Learning Team Supervisor to improve the quality of mandatory training provided by the Trust.
- Work collaboratively with the Training and Learning Manager and the Training and Learning Team Supervisor Subject Matter Experts to improve the quality of Mandatory Training.
- Work with the Training and Learning Manager to develop and implement a strategy for improving mandatory training compliance.

Job responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Training and Learning Manager to improve the quality of mandatory training provided by the Trust.
- Work collaboratively with the Training and Learning Manager and the Training and Learning Team Supervisor Subject Matter Experts to improve the quality of Mandatory Training.
- Work with the Training and Learning Manager and the Training and Learning Team Supervisor to develop and implement a strategy for improving mandatory training compliance.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts to develop and implement strategies for improving compliance
- To be able to view and analyse mandatory training and appraisal compliance reports using Business Intelligence.
- To be able to extract the mandatory training and appraisal data using Business Intelligence on ESR.
- Work with SMEs to organise targeted training events for specified department areas.
- Support the Training and Learning team with the mandatory training and appraisal recovery plan.
- Monitor and report compliance including did not attend reporting.
- Provide ad hoc reports where required for training and appraisal compliance.
- Work with Staffing Solutions to improve the mandatory training compliance rate of Bank only staff.
- Support the Senior Training and Learning administration team to coordinate statutory and mandatory training courses
- Advise staff on the Annual Performance and Development Review Process
- Conduct Annual Development and Performance Review audits and produce a report to reflect findings
- Meet and work with departmental managers and/or service line leads to devise mandatory training and appraisal recovery plans
- Complete actions from recovery plans including creating personalised training packs and working with the wider team to complete any actions
- Provide relevant administration work for the department where required including inputting data onto ESR, resetting E Learning passwords, mailbox enquiries including room and course bookings.
- Support staff responsible for conducting appraisals by guiding them through the new paperwork and sign posting them to relevant training
- Lead and organise mandatory training promotional events
- Attend departmental meetings to support maximising the course attendance and share current working plans with the team
- Be a member of the task and finish group
Communication and relationship management
- Plan and deliver e-learning training sessions for all staff across the Trust
- Organise events to promote the importance of mandatory training and appraisal compliance.
- Deal with difficult and sometimes distressed staff, trainers/speakers (both internal and external), providing advice and escalating matters when unable to resolve.
- Act as an information resource on education and training matters including disseminating of information relating to training processes to both internal/external training providers using the telephone, face to face contact or via email.
- Provide advice on education and training policies and procedures including statutory and mandatory training matters.
Continuing Professional Development
- Actively participate in own appraisal, personal development and agreed learning activities.
- Attend relevant statutory and mandatory training to ensure competent and safe practice.
