Job summary

The Urodynamic Department is an outpatient clinic involved in the investigation of bladder dysfunction.

We are looking for a motivated, reliable, enthusiastic person, with an interest in Urology, to work with the Urology Specialist Nurses. This is mainly a clinical role and with some admin. Previous experience in patient care and computer skills would be an advantage.

As a clinical support worker, you will be a vital member of this team who will be enthusiastic, resilient and passionate about providing the best care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder participates as an integral member of the Urodynamic clinic, performing clinical and clerical duties under the guidance and supervision of the Urology Specialist Nurses.

Assist in the preparation and setting up of the specialist Urodynamic investigation equipment, flow meter, bladder scan unit and catheterisation trolley to ensure that all requirements are ready for the investigation to go ahead.

Demonstrate the technical ability to use the computerised investigation system to assist the nurse during the procedure.

Be able to adapt to the specific needs of the patient, particular those with physical or learning disabilities.

Be actively involved in the Flow Clinic. Competently perform urinary flow tests and bladder scans, without direct supervision but with a registered nurse being available in the department.

Take responsibility for the flow clinic in the event of sickness or annual leave, without direct supervision but with a registered nurse being available in the department.

File the results of flow tests and bladder scans in the patient notes. Identify any abnormalities that require immediate intervention and report them to the nurse in charge.
