This exciting new role will contribute to the delivery of the Bedfordshire Hospitals Stop Smoking Service objectives and the wider objectives of the Organisation providing high-quality, expert stop smoking intervention treatment to inpatients, outpatients, and staff.
The Tobacco Dependence Treatment Lead will be responsible for taking the project forward and delivering the new project and operationally deliver the smoking element of the NHS Long Term Tobacco Treatment Programme by establishing a stop smoking service for Adult inpatient units based upon the Ottawa and CURE Models of Smoking Cessation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can produce results in a challenging environment. As the TDT Lead it will be your responsibility to deliver and review the TDT service.Close liaison with local stop smoking services and work closely with the Health Improvement team and Public Health department. You will work with minimal indirect supervision operating within the assessed level of competence and being accountable for all aspects of own work.
This role requires an ability to manage time and resources effectively to ensure that you hit targets and provide highly effective support for smokers who are admitted to our hospitals.

Main duties of the job
A patient focused healthcare professional, or public health practitioner with experience and expertise leading projects on addiction/smoking cessation. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, and able to work independently and prioritise and delegate appropriately. This is a new service so experience of establishing or running services will be beneficial.
The Tobacco Dependence Treatment Lead will be responsible for operationalising the National Tobacco Dependence Programme being implemented as part of the NHS Long Term Plan (LTP). The LTP states that all people admitted to hospital who smoke will be offered NHS-funded tobacco treatment and support. You will work with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the trust and with partners to deliver the programme in line with the national requirements and the public health team's service objectives. The post holder will take responsibility for implementation of the programme.
The post holder will work confidently across the entire trust and will build strong relationships with partner agencies. The ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders including patient and public representatives will be required. In delivering the programme of work, the post holder will be expected to demonstrate expertise in project management, personalisation, clinical care, communication and, prevention and health improvement.
