We are delighted to offer this great opportunity of a Restorative Band 5 nurse for our newly established Restorative service at the Luton & Dunstable University Hospital. This is a lucrative post for an ambitious, experienced dental nurse who would like to work closely with Restorative Consultants for treatment of patients with head & neck cancer, cleft lip & palate, advanced trauma, amelogenesis and dentinogenesis imperfecta. This unit has OMFS, Orthodontic and Restorative specialties along with an onsite dental Lab.
The candidate will be part of a diverse and large team consisting of dental and general nurses.

We also support dental nurses by paid CPD annual subscription from Isopharm Dental Training which costed £34 annually. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to understand and have experience in complex restorative and oral surgery procedures including: implant placement/ bone grafting/sinus lift and periodontal surgery/fixed and removable prosthodontics including implant prostheses/ endodontics and periodontics.
Hospital experience is desirable but not an essential criteria.
Dental Implant nursing experience/qualification is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist chairside to support and chaperone clinicians in the provision of complex treatment for patients with head and neck cancer , hypodontia, cleft lip and palate, amelogenesis and dentinogensis imperfecta and advanced maxillofacial trauma.
- To ensure the delivery of a high quality patient care throughout the department and provide skilled nursing knowledge and support to clinicians who treat patients undergoing highly complex restorative/surgical procedures.
- Provide specialist pre/post-operative advice and oral health education to patients.
- Work jointly with other specialities including: Maxillofacial, Orthodontics, ENT and Oncology.
- Liaise with the onsite Maxillofacial laboratory and Restorative technicians.
- Work collaboratively with support services including: Head and Neck Cancer nurses, SALT, dieticians, radiologists, secretaries and safeguarding team.
- Participate in monitoring and ordering of stock. Participate in annual stock check. Be aware of financial constraints by managing resources economically.
- To demonstrate team working skills and be adaptable to change at short notice.
- Participate as an active member of the clinical team, accountable for own practice and role modelling the highest standards of care to all members of the team.
- Ensures own practice is conducted within the Trust policies in order to maintain professional, clinical and patient safety.
- Liaise and meet with a wide variety of reps and companies.
- Preparation of theatre/room and surgical equipment for minor operations carried out under local anaesthetic, following aseptic non-touch techniques in accordance with Trust guidelines.
- Have knowledge of infection control policies, local divisional strategy with practical experience and principles in relation to the clinical environment, patient care, the prevention of cross infection, outbreak management, good hand hygiene and environmental cleaning.
- Involvement in quality assurance, audits, COSHH.
- Provide expert nursing advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals.
- Actively involve patients in providing feedback of their experience of the current service and suggestions for improvements.
- Work flexibly to meet the requirements of the service and demonstrate resilience.
