We have a very exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly and inclusive department as the Principal Pharmacist, Education & Training. This renewed position is integral to the successful design transformation and delivery of the Trust innovative education and training strategy,to further develop and support our pharmacy workforce.
This position is one of four within the pharmacy team dedicated to E&T to streamline delivery into four components (pre-registration, foundation level framework, advanced level framework, consultant level framework) with this post leading on the Advanced and Consultant Level Framework training and accreditation for Pharmacists in accordance with RPS standards.
This role will have a specific focus on managing, leading, strategic planning and coordination of the Advanced Level Framework training and development plan for registered pharmacy staff, providing expert guidance, mentorship and support to pharmacy staff. You will play a pivotal role with the Trust Practice Development Team in ensuring effective, integrated and system-wide 'readiness' for the future pharmacy prescriber professionals in the journey to 2026.
Main duties of the job
To develop a strategic plan to attract, train, develop and retain the pharmacy workforce at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, published as standalone document on education, training and workforce development to complement the overarching Pharmacy Strategy.
To be responsible for the development and delivery of suitable education and training for all pharmacy staff.
To specifically manage, lead, strategically plan and co-ordinate the Advanced Level Framework training and development plan for registered pharmacy staff (including qualifications including and beyond postgraduate Masters and RPS credentialing), providing expert guidance, mentorship and support to other pharmacy staff.
To be the named Trainee Pharmacist Manager as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). To provide assurance as necessary to the GPhC that pre-registration training plans are in place
To chair and convene the 'Pharmacy Forum', giving a voice to all grades of pharmacy staff and supporting well-being events for the department
To be a key member of the Senior Pharmacy Leadership Team (PSLT), working with the Chief Pharmacist and Heads of Pharmacy to review, refresh and deliver the education, training and workforce development aspects of the Pharmacy Strategy to meet the needs of the Trust, its staff and its patients
