Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated doctor to join the Haematology directorate as a full time (40 hours per week) Clinical Fellow to support both inpatient and outpatient haematology services, contribute to the delivery of cutting edge cellular therapies, and play a key role in the Trust's transition of CAR T services to an ambulatory model.
As a Clinical Fellow, you will work across our 31 bedded Palatine Ward, the 4 bed inpatient unit, and the adjacent ambulatory care unit. You will collaborate closely with consultants, specialty trainees, clinical fellows, research fellows and IMTs to ensure exceptional care for haematology and CAR T patients.
You will be involved in the management of complex haematology inpatients, , and will participate in weekly ward rounds, MDTs, and specialist outpatient clinics such as the CAR T clinic. You will also support the development of ambulatory pathways for CAR T patients--an important and evolving area of service innovation.
Main duties of the job
o Provide high quality inpatient and outpatient medical support across haematology services.o Review Haematology inpatients on Palatine and Withington Wards and other inpatient areas across the Trust.o Support the transition of CAR T services to an ambulatory model.o Participate in weekly CAR T and cellular therapy outpatient clinics.o Attend departmental teaching sessions and contribute to MDT meetings.o Perform and train in procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and femoral lines.o Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families and the wider MDT.o Prioritise workload using strong organisational and time management skills.o Work flexibly to provide cross cover for inpatient and outpatient areas.
