This is a minimum of 12 months fixed term role to provide maternity leave cover, offering an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop or continue their career in NHS finance. The post is also suitable for candidates wishing to take up the role as a secondment.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant with strong experience in effective financial management. You will bring well developed leadership and communication skills, alongside excellent analytical, technical and IT capabilities gained in either the public or private sector. The role requires someone who can operate confidently at a strategic level, work effectively under pressure and manage multiple, competing deadlines.

Main duties of the job
As the Head of Financial Management, you will play a pivotal leadership role within The Christie's Finance Division, providing strategic financial expertise and driving a culture of strong financial control across a range of clinical and non-clinical services. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will lead specific sub-teams within the Financial Management function and act as a trusted partner to senior operational and clinical leaders.
You will be responsible for delivering high quality financial management, ensuring accurate, timely and insightful reporting, and supporting divisions to achieve financial balance. A key part of the role involves shaping financial planning, advising on service developments, and ensuring that divisional objectives align with the Trust's wider financial strategy.
Acting as deputy to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will take ownership of teamwide responsibilities, lead on corporate financial projects, and represent Finance across a range of internal committees. You will also play a central role in developing staff capability, embedding financial awareness, and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal financial requirements.
