Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated engineer to join the ultrasound engineering team at The Christie. We conduct service and repairs of ultrasound equipment both at The Christie and at other sites across North West England which are covered by SLA agreements and service contracts. The successful candidate will support the training of junior staff within Christie Medical Physics and Engineering (CMPE) and have experience working with complex medical equipment including service and repairs. There will be opportunities to attend manufacturer's technical training courses and gain a wider range of knowledge of medical ultrasound equipment and repair. The successful candidate will ideally be registered with a professional body which has an ongoing CPD scheme, have a degree in an appropriate electronics or electrical discipline, or equivalent experience, and be able to demonstrate advanced practical knowledge of medical ultrasound. We are looking for someone who can work both as part of a team and independently within a quality management system whilst managing their own workload.
Main duties of the job
Travel to multiple hospitals acting as an autonomous ultrasound engineer, conducting planned preventative maintenance, repairs and inspection testing of ultrasound systems.
Investigate complex faults, give advice to clinical staff and liaise with the manufactures to resolve issues effectively.
Work with both the clinical scientists and engineering team to deliver ultrasound support within the region.
Work with the ultrasound coordinator when planning routine service jobs. To conduct site audits when required to ensure contact details and system details are up to date.
Identify technical training needs and highlight to lead engineer.
Support the lead engineer and lead clinical scientist to deliver SLA contracts with NHS trusts across the region to ensure ultrasound equipment is maintained in accordance with best practice.
