*This role is predominantly based at the Churchill Unit at Royal Bolton Hospital*

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the SACT Team at Royal Bolton Hospital, this is one of the Outreach SACT Services provided by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The Churchill unit is a friendly unit which provides oncology outpatient clinics and delivery of outpatient SACT. In addition, the department undertakes CVAD care and other supportive activities.

Main duties of the job

GENERAL DUTIES1. Provide a supportive role within the SACT unit at the Christie for nursing, medical and clerical Staff. 2. Undertake the nursing care of patients, ensuring privacy & dignity is maintained whilst being aware of physical and psychological needs3. To give a clear and accurate update at change of duties and ensure accurate documentation of nursing interventions4. To participate in the rehabilitation of patients and give any necessary instructions, including discharge information 5. Participate in nursing procedures appropriate to the department6. Support and assist in the induction/training of junior staff/Health Care Assistant's acting as mentor to designated staff7. To welcome patients to the unit and its routine

Correct care and custody of controlled drugs and aid the safe storage of medicines and the return of any unused chemotherapy to pharmacy20. Assist medical staff with proceduresEDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT1. The staff nurse is responsible for their own personal development and maintaining a personal development plan 2. To complete the Ward introductory pack and preceptor pack if applicable3. Complete Clinical Skills Training and the UKONs SACT passport 4. Annually attend all mandatory study days including Resuscitation, AIMs, moving & handling and fire safety5. To complete level 3 SACT administration programme to administer cytotoxic drugs and educate patients regarding their treatmentPERSONAL1. Demonstrate a pleasant and approachable manner and help create and promote a good working relationship2. Show professional and courteous manner when answering the telephone and other enquires3. Maintain confidentiality with regard to patient information both at work and outside of working hours4. To be aware of and adhere to all policies including; sickness and absence, confidentiality, uniform and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act5. Report and record all accidents and complaints according to the agreed policy6. To be aware of limitations and utilise the preceptor system for any issues that arise7.
