Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner to work within the Rehabilitation Team
The candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to make treat patients effectively with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within the wider multidisciplinary team
They will provide planned care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, symptom control, palliative care and rehabilitation and be able to take appropriate action to achieve the planned aims. They will work alongside other staff members and disciplines to ensure the Rehabilitation Unit remains a safe patient environment. The Assistant Practitioner will be proficient, competent and require minimum supervision
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be supported and receive all training and supervision to work alongside the MDT to deliver programmes of care and therapy for treatment, as per plan of care determined by physiotherapists. They will develop an empathetic rapport with patients and encourage interest and participation in their treatment programme.
They will be expected to support and undertake the assessment and management of non-complex patient's rehabilitation needs under the direct/indirect supervision of the physiotherapist. This will include initial data collection, assessment of mobility/basic function, implementation of identified treatment plans and information, monitoring/analysis of patients' progress, feedback discussion with seniors, provision of written reports and completion of appropriate MDT referrals.
The post is a rotation position where the assistant practitioner will also support and assist the physiotherapists within the medical and surgical teams in the treatment of complex patients.
