Job summary
We have an exciting oncology Band 5 nursing position here at the Christie working in our department 1 ground floor outpatient area whilst supporting our bloods closer to home service. If you are a committed, proactive and a compassionate registered nurse or newly qualified nurse with an interest in oncology then we want you to hear from you.
You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care for patients. You will work alongside experienced staff in order to ensure patients have a positive journey throughout their time at the Christie.

As a newly qualified nurse you will be signed up for our preceptorship programme to help support and guide through your new role here at the Christie. You will be assigned a dedicated preceptor who will assist you in finding your feet in this new role and support you closely throughout your first year at the Christie.
As a qualified nurse you will be given a suitable supernumerary period and remain supported by senior team members to ensure your transition into the christie is smooth.
Main duties of the job
We require some of the key factors stated but not limited to:
- You will work alongside our multidisciplinary team to provide high quality holistic care to patients both in and out of hospital.
- Must hold business insurance due to being expected to attend our outreach sites, must hold valid UK drivers license and be confident and comfortable in driving around Greater Manchester and surrounding areas You will be expected to be able to work alongside support more junior members of staff caring for patients.
- You will need to be confident or open to learning and becoming competent in carrying out procedures such as venepuncture, cannulation and ECG's and will need to be able to support more junior members of staff in this capacity
- You will need to be able to accurately record in patients notes including but not limited to clinical observations.
- You will be expected to assist in the maintenance of a clean and hygienic work environment.
- You will be expected to provide urgent care in the case of emergencies within the outpatient area and administer lifesaving treatment where appropriate
- Ensure that prescribed drugs and treatments are given correctly and in accordance with the Hospital Procedure and Policy, and work within NMC guidelines.
- Be approachable, flexible and courteous
About us
We currently have 11 bloods closer to home sites across the north west that operate Monday to Friday with a phlebotomy clinic on Saturday's. We have 24 Healthcare assistants, 2 band 6's, 1 senior sister and 1 lead nurse over our area.
We hold face to face oncology clinics Monday to Friday seeing patients from multiple disease groups.
We are a friendly, compassionate and caring team with strong team values we consistently uphold.
We don't work nights.
