Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality and Standards team as a Quality Sister, working alongside the Lead Nurse for Quality.

We are looking for a highly motivated experienced Registered Nurse who will bring excellent clinical and communication skills.

The successful candidate should have demonstrable leadership skills and experience as the role involves networking and working alongside clinical teams, with patient and relative involvement.

The role will be highly visible working in clinical areas across the whole of the trust to engage, empower and support teams in the delivery of the trust's quality plan.

Main duties of the job

1. To support the implementation of national policy directives/national evidence-based practice in relation to the quality agenda, providing support to colleagues as appropriate.

2. To support the planning and delivery of large-scale programs of quality improvement which assist the trust in achieving outcome ambitions for effective patient care. This will be achieved by working alongside staff, engaging, and empowering them to influence change and monitoring the sustainability of the quality improvement.

3. To provide clear leadership and direction to support the clinical teams, liaising with the senior leadership teams in the trust.

4. To support the development and implementation of The Trust CODE accreditation and Quality Mark schemes, ensuring standards are maintained and staff are supported to make improvements through collaboration and engagement. You will visit the satellite centers to network and support the clinical teams.

5. Support the lead Nurse and participate in the further development of the accreditation schemes across the organization and inclusion of oncology specific standards by working collaboratively with clinical teams

6. To work with the Lead Nurse in support of the processes for our Non-Medical Prescribing professionals and support clinical staff applying for the Non-Medical Prescribing course.

  14. Actively identify opportunities to influence trust nursing and quality agendas.
  15. Participate in the implementation and further development of clinical indicators/metrics and systems of reporting, action planning and sustainability.
  16. Use analytical and sound clinical judgement skills in relation to analyzing data which may sometimes be complex in nature.
  17. Collaborate on specific areas of work under the leadership of the Lead Nurse, as agreed with the Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Quality, including the planning and management of projects and the implementation of change across the Trust, ensuring professional relationships are maintained and cross divisional partnerships encouraged.
  18. In conjunction with the senior nursing team, contribute to the development and implementation of effective policies and practices which support the achievement of the quality objectives.
  19. To ensure that all professional standards and practice, including statutory regulations are adhered to.
  20. Contribute to communication networks, enabling effective partnership and promoting professional relationships within the organisation.
  21. Actively participate in organisational committees and operational groups.
  22. Support the development and delivery of an ongoing training programme to ensure staff are skilled in the application of quality improvement methodology.

Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP)

  1. Support the Lead Nurse on the overarching management of the non-medical prescribing service within the organisation.
  2. Assist the Lead Nurse by supporting NMP learners during training.
  3. Support in the management of the NMP database ensuring that appropriate data is accurately recorded.
  4. Assist the Lead Nurse in the organisation of NMP continuing professional development events in-line with the requirements set out in the NMP policy.
  5. Support the Lead Nurse in regular audit activity of NMP activity and compliance against national and local guidance.

Education
