Job summary

An exciting developmental opportunity has arisen with the Procedure team for a band 6 full-time position (37.5 hrs.)

This post is a development opportunity starting as a band 6 for 12 months with a progression to a band 7 subject to achieving competencies.

Possessing excellent clinical skills, you will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated dynamic individual working as part of an award-winning team. Your main clinical duties involve the insertion and removal of central venous access devices, abdominal paracentesis and undertaking bone marrow biopsies. You will have an opportunity to undertake research and be at the forefront of developing clinical practice in this specialty.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for clinical development within a supportive environment in this specialised area. The post holder will initially be employed as a Band 6 during the training period and then move to Band 7 once competencies have been achieved.

Main duties of the job

Perform comprehensive assessment of patient pre-procedures such as venous devices (E.g. PIVC, midline, tunnelled CVC, implanted port) insertion/removal, bone marrow procedures and abdominalparacentesis

Undertake vascular access and other minor surgical procedures according to Trust protocols once having undergone practical and theoretical training and assessed as competent.

Undertake advance techniques within radiology, for complex anatomy, pathology, left sided and femoral procedures.

Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, related to procedures and team activity. Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met and ensure discharge arrangements for ongoing care.

Communicate information to patients/carers/relatives regarding their procedure and care information regarding their devices

Provide expert clinical knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives both within and outside the Trust.. Provide support to team manager team in the development and enhancement of clinical practice, managerial aspects of the department.

Provide expert guidance for the trust on best practice regarding procedures, management of devices and complications.
