Job summary

The System Specialist is responsible for the management, administration, building modules, testing, support, development, documentation, reporting and training associated with operational use of 'Infoflex' and cover for other clinical and corporate information systems within the Trust.

The post holder will establish and chair a system user group (or groups) across Greater Manchester for Infoflex and ensure that key stakeholders and users are represented. The purpose of the user group is to ensure that the system(s) are used effectively, efficiently and safely and that change requests are controlled and agreed by all trusts across Manchester to prevent local changes to the system and documents held within it.

Organising and chairing design sessions for development of clinical protocols and patient portals and building of modules to reflect the protocols.

The post holder will work with the Information and Business Intelligence teams across Greater Manchester where necessary to support Greater Manchester trusts in providing data to support the management of patient stratified follow-up and any future uses of Infoflex and other agreed data requirements on individual trust objectives and national targets.

The post holder will develop close working relationships with all members of the Digital Services department at The Christie Hospital and with key contacts at the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance and all Greater Manchester Trusts

Main duties of the job

We are now seeking to recruit a full time Systems Specialist to join a team of Senior System Specialists who provide support in the day-to-day management and maintenance of live clinical and corporate systems across the Trust. The post holder would primarily be responsible for supporting the GM Cancer Alliance in the overall management, administration, support, development, documentation, reporting, andtraining associated with operational use of the Infoflex system, as well as supporting other applications used within the Trust.

Applicants must have experience of hospital information systems and possess excellent organisational and communication skills. The candidate should be hard-working and capable of working on their own initiative and under pressure, as well as working within the team to maintain a high standard of service.

Manage and co-ordinate all procedures associated with the successful running of the Infoflex application for all Trusts in Greater Manchester, supporting Trust BI teams to ensure they are adequately trained and prepared to offer a high-quality service.

Work closely with the Digital Service Delivery Manager ensuring all system administration tasks suitable for first line support are clearly documented, scripted and delegated to service desk teams.

Work closely with the Data Engineering team ensuring the Infoflex application is configured to capture quality data suitable for use within the Data Warehouse and reporting suite.

Work closely with Trust Divisions and Data Engineering teams ensuring data quality issues are addressed at source of entry.

Ensure that the Infoflex application is used effectively, efficiently and safely, working with service managers and third-party suppliers in relation to new developments and the management of issues.

Assist the Digital Applications Lead in providing leadership in the management and development of the clinical system that supports the delivery of patient care, advising the Trust on their future development.

Assist the Digital Applications Lead in providing evaluation of clinical services and their development in collaboration with service managers, other heads of Digital Services functions and corporate managers.

Work closely with the Programme Management Office during the implementation and future expansion of the Infoflex application / modules or new versions of software as required. Prior to any implementation, plan, in line with Trust standards for the project, to identify training requirements, ensure courses are prepared and if necessary, prepare and deliver training sessions.

Lead, manage and action the resolution of incidents, problems and requests in own area in an efficient and professional manner, whilst conforming to Trust and departmental standards, service agreements, policies, procedures and working practices, seeking further advice and information within Digital Services, when necessary.

Be responsible for escalated calls in own area.

Liaise closely with users to manage incidents, problems and service requests in own area to a satisfactory conclusion, providing full information and advice and investigating complaints in line with departmental policy.
