Job summary
The Trust is seeking to strengthen its financial services team, through the appointment of a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to the role of Finance Assistant within the Financial Services section of the Finance Directorate.
The Finance Directorate actively promotes training and development within the team, across the Trust and externally. We have developed a comprehensive finance education strategy and hold Towards Excellence Level 3 accreditation. We are an active member of the FSD Network, Future Focused Finance, and the Towards Excellence scheme.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Key responsibilities will include credit control duties, clearing aged debt, assisting with AoB, reconciling balance sheet codes, covering for other members of the team and providing financial service to the trust nursery.The successful candidate must possesso AAT Technician/ NVQ level 4 finance/accountancy qualification/ studying final year of apprenticeship scheme or have significant relevant experience of working within a busy financial accounting environment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carry out credit control procedures for all bodies, using both month-end aged debt analysis reports and ad-hoc reports produced during the month.2. Providing a financial service to the Christie day nursery. Main duties will include the raising of invoices; credit control and notification to the payroll provider for staff salary deductions including those made under a salary sacrifice scheme.
3. Assist in the production of the Annual Accounts process (particularly with respect to the Agreement of Balances (AOB) process) in accordance with the national guidance and reporting deadlines to ensure that the organisation fully meets its financial reporting obligations. Ensure high quality working papers are produced and provide explanations to auditors where required4. Produce various Balance sheet reconciliations and complete corrective action, as required.5. Provide cover as required within the Financial Services Team.6. Produce procedure notes for all tasks undertaken and review these annually.
7. Support the Financial Services team in the provision of a comprehensive financial accounting service to the Trust and subsidiary entities, including supporting the breadth of activity undertaken by the team.
8. Responsible for prioritising own work and adhering to all monthly timetables and deadlines.
9. Actively engage with process improvement for the Financial services team, supporting the Financial Services Team Leader and the Assistant Services manager in leading change, and be a role model and support to junior members of staff.
10. Work with the Financial Services Team Leader and Assistant Financial Services Manager to agree Personal Objectives, and a Personal Development Plan and keep up to date professionally through mandatory continuing professional development.
