Job summary

Non-Medical Practice Education is responsible for learners on placement from Greater Manchester, North West and UK-wide universities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed registered nurse with a keen interest in education to assist with the delivery of education and learning environment development for nursing, including TNAs, and Allied Health Profession learners. You will work in the Medical and Non-Medical Education team within the School of Oncology, to develop quality learning environments and support the breadth of the learner's clinical placement experience across non-medical professions and support the development for new nursing and allied health profession learners.

The Trust is currently in the process of increasing nursing placement activity, without loss to the quality of experience, to meet the growing demands of Greater Manchester and the NHS. The successful candidate will be a key player in achieving the Trusts and School of Oncology educational objectives.

Candidates must have highly effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse team of professionals; able to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels and use own initiative. Must have excellent organisational and administrative skills and be able to meet tight deadlines. Experience of teaching, coaching mentoring and assessing healthcare learners is essential. Familiarity and experience with PARE is essential.

Main duties of the job

Engage and liaise with relevant HEIs on all TNA curriculum developments Engage with TNA academic staff for TNA reviews including disciplinary issues if required Support the Professional Development and Apprenticeship team with recruitment of TNAs Engage with HR, Workforce and Managers to support the recruitment of TNAs to NA posts on completion of TNA program. Plan and coordinate and facilitate the rotational learning environments in line with the HEI curriculum framework Plan, facilitate, co-ordinate and present clinical skills training sessions in line with the National and university curriculums. In partnership with the PEF team, support the assessment of a range of practice learning environments, determining interventions to sustain and enhance practice education; ensuring all service areas/ placement providers have an up to date action plan in place. Supervision and Assessment Prepare and support registered nurses post - preceptorship to become supervisors and assessors Support and guide supervisors and assessors of learners and staff undertaking approved educator programmes (or equivalent) Provide and support the opportunities for learning for Trainee Nursing Associates which may include assessment Contribute to changes in nurse and supervisor/assessor training through working in partnership with HEI partners and respond to directives from external parties, such as NMC, HEE Direct and supervise key supervisors and assessors to facilitate nursing learners to learn and develop and assess their competency.
