Diabetes Specialist Nurse

Job summary

We are recruiting a Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse to provide clinical care and leadership within Maternity Services.

The postholder will provide clinical review for inpatients and coordinate the MDT diabetes antenatal clinic. Provide staff training and support the service to remain compliance with Saving Babies Lives V3 and any other national, regional or local recommendations in relation to diabetes in pregnancy. You will monitor and update guidance and policies and support learning from incidents.

This is a permanent part time role of 22.5hrs with the additional option of up to 12hrs temporary to cover maternity leave of a team member

The role involves line management of the diabetes specialist midwife.

Although this role is within maternity services you will work closely and receive the professional guidance and support of the Consultant ACP for Diabetes.

Main duties of the job

To undertake in-depth specialist clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for pregnant patientswith diabetes mellitus.To support in leading the multi-professional management of patients with diabetes through the provision of clinical leadership and expert advice across the service

To support the leadership team in facilitating, enabling and supporting the development of this servicebased on best practice ensuring delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care.

Support for our clinical services includes an enhanced midwifery team, quality team and a team specialist midwives
