Locally Employed Doctor (LED) ST1/2 in Trauma & Orthopaedics
Applications are invited for a LED ST1/2 doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month, fixed term post. The successful candidates will join a team of 14 Consultants based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.
Main duties of the job
Trauma surgery will be undertaken during the weekend by the on call team and any outstanding trauma will be operated on weekday trauma lists which are staffed by Consultants and Senior Trainees. These patients will be followed up on the Consultants Clinic.
The on call applies to all emergency orthopaedic admissions and to all patients attending the Emergency Department who subsequently require fracture clinic or orthopaedic clinic appointments as a result of their visit to the Emergency Department. The Consultants in the Emergency Department continue to supervise the management of many patients attending their department, at their own discretion.
There is close liaison between the Emergency Department and the Orthopaedic Department. There are daily trauma meetings.
The department runs a Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC) daily, Monday to Friday where all suitable attendances at ED are triaged by the Consultant for plans of care to be made. This service was recently shortlisted for a Health Service Journal (HSJ) value award
