Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Urology team in a Band 6 role. This is a replacement, permanent position within Urology to support patients being investigated/ diagnosed with a urological cancer.
Main duties of the job
This post will report to the Uro-oncology Expert Advanced Nurse Practitioner and work closely alongside the Urology CNS team. The successful applicant will join a well-established clinical team with the opportunity to engage in further training and development.
The successful applicant may be required to provide cover for specific clinical commitments such as MDT meetings, clinic sessions and telephone advice.
The post holder will work as a member of the Urology multi-disciplinary team within the secondary care setting. The post holder will autonomously liaise with patients, carers, consultants, GP's, and related therapists providing information, health promotion and support for patients with a Urological cancer from pre diagnosis and at every stage throughout their complex cancer pathway.
As a member of the Urology multi-disciplinary team you will be expected to undertake Advanced Communication Skills training to facilitate breaking bad news clinics and provide holistic assessment and psychological support to cancer patients and their carer's.
