Emergency Department Sister/Charge Nurse

The closing date is 19 October 2025

Job summary

Are you looking for an exciting challenge with bespoke learning opportunities? Are you a highly motivated and dynamic individual?

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who is passionate about delivering high standards of nursing care to ensure a positive patient experience. You need to have excellent communication skills and be prepared to work in an extremely busy and often challenging environment which will be in turn rewarding and exciting.

Due to the dynamic and diverse nature of the department, the post holder will be exposed to a wealth of acute emergency patients providing ample opportunities to enhance their skills. The departments approach to care requires all personnel to work closely with all members of the Multi-disciplinary team in order to provide effective and safe care.

It is essential that the successful candidate is a professional, diplomatic and caring, as you will be challenged with the varied demands of the department, which at times is very unpredictable. The applicants must have two years ED experience and must have completed their triage training.

You must have the ability to prioritise your working day under pressure, and knowledge of patient flow is essential.

We encourage and welcome applicants to carry out an informal visit to our unit and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Main duties of the job

An experienced and competent health care professional who supports the Clinical Nurse Manager in the leadership and management of clinical excellence by making best use of the team, developing and implementing policy and guidelines, and by leading on improvements. The post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families and take an active part in line management, leadership and development of the team
