Macmillan Advanced Clinical Colorectal Specialist Physiotherapist

Job summary

To act as an advanced clinical specialist responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients referred with a colorectal cancer diagnosis undergoing active treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

To act as an advanced clinical specialist for colorectal surgery within MCHFT, keeping informed of planned new developments for the service provided by MCHFT, and supporting the operational delivery, planning (including integrated enhanced recovery pathways), co-ordination, and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service for these patients.

To work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team to access and act upon relevant diagnostic tests and make relevant onward recommendations as necessary.

To act as lead within specialist area supporting the optional delivery, planning, co-ordination, and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service provided for patients on the elective surgical inpatient ward, including critical care and high dependency, at Leighton Hospital including service development initiatives.

To work closely with the colorectal cancer team in particular the colorectal Enhanced Recovery Nurse (1.0 WTE) and colorectal specialist dietitian (0.4 WTE) to support the delivery of the Enhanced Recovery Pathway.

To work with in and addition to members of the wider team to support service development including Macmillan Rehab.
