Do you want to be involved in improving the care for women suffering with pre-existing and perinatal mental health illnesses?We are recruiting an experienced midwife with a passion for maternal mental health to support and continue to develop our service .
The role willencompass working with and training staff in all clinical areas to enable them to provide high quality and safe care , In addition the postholder willsupport families directly and work with other agencies to ensure that support is in place for women with mental health illnesses. You will also workalongside the senior team to develop care pathways and improve our services for women and their families
This is a fixed term position to cover Maternity Leave
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job will include but not be limited to:o Develop and implement plans of care for women with, or at risk of perinatal mental illness.o Act as an advocate for women with, or at risk of perinatal mental illnesso Triage PMH referrals in partnership with the perinatal mental health service as appropriate
Liaise with mental health services and other partner agencies to ensure that women are receiving effective careo Risk assess individual cases and escalate safeguarding concerns as per the appropriate policyo Supplement the care provided by the named midwife by offering expert knowledge and clinical leadershipo Collate, analyse and report on information about the quality of service provided to women with mental illness.o Identify areas for research, audit and development relevant to mental health. Initiate and participate in research and clinical auditprogrammes and encourage other midwives to do the same.o Use research to support evidence-based practice and shape the strategic direction of support for women with mental illness and theirfamilieso Provide a visible and accessible presence, acting as a professional role model by providing leadership and support withinmultidisciplinary and midwifery teams
