Job summary

A really exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and positive individual to undertake a podiatry degree through an apprenticeship programme running in collaboration with the University of Plymouth starting in September 2024.

You will learn your academic content online and your clinical supervision / learning will all take place within the CCICP Podiatry location supported by experienced colleagues.

This is a development role via the Podiatry Apprenticeship standard. You will work towards successful completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry and recognition by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Allied Health Professional AHP Podiatrist via an approved University. You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of a Podiatrist through your apprenticeship within the service as well as through completion of the Plymouth Podiatry Apprenticeship training programme.

The apprenticeship is 3 years in duration giving you a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry upon completion. At the end of 3 years - on successful completion of the programme - you will also be offered a permanent Band 5 position in the dynamic CCICP Podiatry team, alongside gaining your HCPC registration.

Main duties of the job

The position is being offered with a salary on the Band 3 agenda for change scale, and you will be supported by the amazing CCICP Podiatry team who will ensure you are looked after and developed as a podiatrists.

The successful individual will be expected to attend Plymouth University remotely one day per week during term time.

You will also be expected to travel between all CCICP clinic bases as part of your clinical on the job training, so a car driver is essential to this role.

What do podiatrists do!!

We improve the comfort, mobility and independence of people with foot problems.

We work closely with elderly people and their foot conditions.

We look after people with high-risk conditions such as diabetes.

We look after children with neurological problems.

We treat biomechanical problems, and CCICP is part of an international study looking at improving diabetic feet using revolutionary computer designed insoles.

Required Qualifications

  • 5GCSEsat Grade 4/C including English Language, Maths and a Science. plus a level 3 qualification as below:
  • Access to Higher Education in Science or Health Studies (Level 3) or
  • BTEC - Science, Sports and exercise science, sports therapy and beauty therapy or health science (Level 3) or
  • 2 x A levels to include Science or health related subject (Level 3)
