We are thrilled that an exciting change to our service is allowing us to welcome an enthusiastic and motivated band 6 Occupational Therapist to permanently join our wonderful team.
You will be part of a motivated and dynamic MDT, and will have support to develop as a clinician. We have a robust in-service training programme, access to external training and CPD activities, and promote service development opportunities.
Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months experience of working in the NHS and have completed relevant band 5 rotations with accompanying competencies. Clinical Educator training is desirable as you will be responsible for supporting students on placement.
Main duties of the job
You will providespecialist stroke assessment and rehabas part of our 'ESD' and longer-term specialist stroke rehab services for up to approx. 4 months following discharge from hospital. This includes a rota'd weekend service in which you will be expected to participate.
The team consists of Physios, OTs, SLTs dietetics, nursing, psychology services, social workers and rehab assistants and works in partnership with the Stroke Association locally to provide a holistic service to the patient.
The successful candidate should have experience working with patients following a stroke, including knowledge of specialist assessments and interventions, and good patient handling skills.
You should have excellent communication skills to be able to build rapport and provide effective interventions to patients who may present with cognitive or communication difficulties.
You will be able to demonstrate good time management skills to ensure timely intervention and discharge of patients to maintain flow of patients through the service.
You will be required to see patients in a variety of locations, both their own homes and in care facilities and must be comfortable with the lone working aspect of the role.
You will be able to to demonstrate an understanding of data protection and confidentiality to ensure accurate and timely documentation in patient clinical records. Good computer literacy is essential.
