Job summary
Following the significant investment in specialist palliative care within central Cheshire applications are invited for a number of medical positions at different levels in Palliative Care to join the integrated specialist palliative care workforce.
Working as part of an established and growing specialist palliative team to provide expert and compassionate care across Community, Hospice and Hospital you will be joining at an exciting time to develop and shape the specialist palliative care service within central Cheshire.
A total of 10 PAs are availableon a permanent basis. The PAs available are based at St Luke's Hospice in Winsford, Cheshire with the expectation that this new role will reach out to work more collaboratively with the specialist palliative care community and Hospital teams.
As part of our Clinical Service Strategy, Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) are committed to providing a high-quality palliative care service where all healthcare settings work in a more integrated manner.
Main duties of the job
Working closely alongside the Hospice's Medical Director, the post holder will manage a defined caseload and patient group within St Luke's Hospice, providing highly specialised information to patients and staff, evaluating existing care and working together with the Hospice team and wider palliative care healthcare community to develop innovative and new models of care.
The successful post holder will be required to complement the role and responsibilities of the existing Specialist Palliative Care Hospice Team, which comprises, Medical Director, 4 sessional GP doctors, 1 ANP to provide a comprehensive range of advice and support to the population of Central Cheshire.
The successful applicants will be in an exciting position to enhance and facilitate the care of patients with life-limiting illness across the locality, to provide specialist advice and input in hospice, hospital and community settings and further development and research locally.
Provision of a 7-day Specialist Palliative Care service in all care settings is a strategic priority within Cheshire East & Cheshire West PLACE and the successful post-holders would be expected to participate in the medical on-call rota for palliative medicine for all healthcare settings across Central Cheshire.
The postholders have the opportunity to develop and maintain clinical excellence and competence in palliative medicine through professional standards and obligations, participation in clinical audit and quality improvement, research and engagement with continuing medical education by meeting CPD requirements and complying in particular with the GMC guidance on good medical practice.

St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice
Established in 1988, St Luke's is a 10 bedded adult hospice based in Winsford caring for people in mid and south Cheshire who are suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses. We offer specialist treatment, care, advice and support to many seriously ill people and their families every year.
In addition to our 10 bedded Inpatient unit, we provide a full complement of services including, Day Hospice care, Occupational Therapy, family support, adult and children bereavement support, social work, chaplaincy, benefits advise, Lymphoedema Care, Homeless support and volunteer befriending.
The Hospice employs approximately 150 staff supported across the whole organisation by 650 volunteers. We support over 1000 patients each year with symptom control, pain relief, emotional and psychological support as well as end of life care and has been assessed by CQC as providing GOOD care.
