An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner to come and join our excellent, well-established team of ACPs and trainee ACPs within the Division of Surgery and Cancer.
The successful applicant will have a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
The successful candidate should have a background in Acute Surgery although consideration would be given to a qualified ACP with a differing speciality with a passion for acute surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. You will be an experienced practitioner with decision making autonomy, responsibility and accountability.
You will demonstrate a high degree of clinical autonomy and complex clinical decisions within their specialist field utilising evidence-based practice. You will contribute to the leadership, development and supervision of others.
The post holder is expected to take responsibility, provide care and make clinical decisions is accordance with agreed clinical pathways of care and proficiency of own skill set.
The post holder will hold a master's qualification in advanced practice.
The post holder must be able to work independently within the four pillars of advanced practice which include clinical practice, management and leadership, education and research.
As an ACP, you will be expected to work alongside the medical and nursing teams to promote the delivery of a high standard of patient centred care within a supported environment.

The post is full time position that requires flexibility in working, with rotation to weekends/Bank holidays as part of an agreed rota with other members of the ACP team.
The post holder will perform a valid assessment of patients presenting in the surgical setting. The individual will utilise theoretical knowledge, clinical skills and expertise to progress decision-making and develop plans of care to facilitate the patient journey. This will occur in collaboration and discussion with the multi-disciplinary team in supported environment.
The post holder will utilise an evidence-based approach to the management of acute patients and will be expected to provide care and make clinical decisions in accordance with agreed clinical pathways of care and proficiency of own skill set. This will also include history taking, examination and investigation skills to timely and safely progress the patients journey.
The post holder will contribute to the education and training of the multidisciplinary team and will engage in clinical supervision, self-reflection, research/audit and quality initiatives that contribute to the improvement of care for adults presenting to MCHFT. Multi-disciplinary collaboration and working will be expected using communication skills to enhance both the service and its sustainable delivery.
The role involves working on both the Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit and the Surgical Wards, supporting the consultants with post take and daily ward rounds. The post holder will work towards taking a lead role in the advanced clinical assessment and treatment of a diverse and undetermined caseload of patients, who may have highly complex presentation. They will determine clinical diagnosis and treatments and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
